My Artist Statement: Luminosa Organica

A little introduction to my Artist Statement.

The artist statement is created to help you, the viewer, understand the purpose, intention for the creation of a body or collection of art. This statement should express the artist's thoughts, feelings, and processes to create and achieve such artwork.

Now art is many things expressed in many different ways, mediums and forms. However, as for me I am presenting here my artist statement regarding a new and unfolding collection of abstract paintings. This abstract collection, titled “Luminosa Botanica” involves primarily acrylic paints, but technically will be classified as mixed media, due to some solvent based metallic inks and some other perhaps “re-purposed” materials integrated into these paintings.

Know that it is not my desire or plan to tell you, the viewer, how to respond, think or feel about my abstracts. Your response to my work should be totally your response, naturally and freely so. Actually my wish is but to give you a foundation and explanatory of where I , the artist, am coming from in preparing, developing and completing such a collection of works for you to hopefully enjoy, view and reflect upon.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT Abstract Collection – "Luminosa Botanica".

Feelings and sensitivities.

My thoughts often quickly trigger my emotions, feelings about many things. My thoughts are like seeds that need to sprout in the more fertile soil of creative impulse and hunger, waiting anxiously to break through this creative soil and become visible creative expressions...that being my abstract paintings.

In general my emotions rise to the surface easily and quickly, very commonly so. I seek to capture and present these positive emotions, reactions from within and display them in a 2 or 3 dimensional, painting presentation. For most of my life I have been fascinated with God's amazing creation and the beauty of our unique planet earth. My inclinations toward art expression have, in the past, been primarily literal and mainly focused on the recognizable, technical details of nature and our created world. Especially in the realm of botanical and landscape.

But now I have a new, refreshing tangent of painting to explore, that is less about detail recognition and accuracy, but rather more about the suggestion of detail, hinting at what might be depicted, what perhaps is laid before the viewer to interpret and relate, sense and feel. One could say I am more interested now in this abstract series to call upon the eyes of your heart rather then the biological eyes for everyday vision and navigation.

The viewer in this series will take upon themselves, I believe, the role of personal interpreter and explorer, of their own emotions, feelings and sensations as they gaze upon the essence, spirit, flow and energy of my abstracts. I invite you to ready yourself for a very personal experience and journey in observing, absorbing and feeling the “unique to you” impressions of my new artwork collection.
