How to draw a Dramatic landscape in soft pastel. Painting a realistic sunset.
This is a good video to show you how a composition and what is called "blocking in" your color shapes and areas, adding weight and strength of color, cool colors and warm colors, all can be quickly established, in particular with pastel. I assume this artist is working with some kind of reference image to aid in the composition, colors, details and contrast areas. But it could possibly all be coming from the artist's great imagination or recollection of a once viewed, on location scene. Anyhow, if you are not already doing pastel creations, paintings you should really give it a try. With a little patience you will soon see some interesting results and begin to envision the great potential of pastel. It can, pastel painting, be great fun and a rewarding, artistic and therapeutic outlet for you.
